Variety Of Sound has released version 2.1 of BootEQ mkII, a musical sounding mixing EQ and pre-amp simulation for Windows.
BootEQ mkII is basically the further improved and reworked successor of the already known and popular musical mixing EQ. Beside some enhancements in the EQ department BootEQ mkII features a detailed modelled pre-amp section including finest transformer and tube style saturation emulation and audio coloring capabilities.
Changes in BootEQ mkII v2.1
Support for higher samplerates.
Faster loading times on systems with large amounts of system fonts.
VST vendor tag changed to “Variety Of Sound”.
Stability improvements when deleting the plug-in from effect slots.
Stability improvements in cubase hosts.
VU display issue on mono tracks fixed.
Less CPU consumption if GUI is closed.
Slightly increased 2nd order harmonic in “TUBE ON” mode.
Resetting the DRV knob with +click w/o any audio artifacts now.
Reset position for the left LF frequency knob corrected to 250Hz.
Audio crackles while switching preamp section on/off eliminated.
Improved HF shelving filter with freq dip and asymetric behaviour.
Changed pop-up displays version number now.
Some EQ code optimizations added.
Preset and manual update.
BootEQ mkII is available to download as a freeware VST effect plug-in for Windows PC.
Variety Of Sound has released NastyVCS a free channel strip effect plug-in for Windows.
Inspired by the smooth dynamic and tone shaping capabilities of some high-end mixing consoles and channel strips, this plug-in implements the most distinctive and much appreciated sonic effects generated by these devices.
Built around an entirely new opto-electric style compression unit, NastyVCS offers everything you need to shape your channels dynamics and tone. It offers a dedicated input stage featuring crunchy pre-amp saturation and a brickwall safety limiter in the output stage. Everything is set up to work in zero latency and so be available for hassle free tracking and mixing.
Two dedicated filters can be used in either the audio path or in the compressor’s sidechain which can be external as well. Whether pre or post compression, the equalizer section offers four interacting coloring tools with well-selected musical sounding curves. The concept gets rounded off by a phase alignment tool which can be used for coloring purposes as well.
The free download for PC (SSE2 or higher type CPU) and VST compatible systems is available via the download page or just click here instead and please acceppt the end-user license agreement.
This version is not backward compatible and should be installed seperately to the 1.0.2 release (new plug-in ID is provided therefore). It should not be used in any actual production or performance due to the beta status and potential further issues and changes.
Changes in FerricTDS v1.5 public beta
Zero latency processing, latency is correctly reported to host now.
100% flat frequency and phase response, allows external dry/wet mixing.
Optimized saturation and limiting performance with more relaxed sound.
Limiter offers true and accurate brickwall limiting now (in 100% position).
~40% cpu savings (depends on actual board+cpu).
Audio crackles while loading and on/off operation fixed.
Density mkII was primarily designed to work in a typical stereo audio group mixing situation or while summing and to glue all things together in a rather unobtrusive way. Yet it’s capable of signal colouring but in a subtle and pleasant way and also can perform quiet different tasks very versatile.
Changes in Density mkII v2.0.1
Sudden CPU spiking on some system configurations is fixed now.
Plug-In is loading properly into Wavelab now.
Note: There is still an issue with older SSE (SSE1) compatible systems where a fix is already in the making but not yet stable and it is unclear when this will finally been done. Therefore some older machines are still not supported for the moment with this Plug-In release.
