J1000 updated PQ33 to v1.1

PQ33 is a freeware VST equalizer based on RND Portico 5033 hardware unit. It has the same number and layout of elements, same frequency ranges for all filters, same gain operational levels and Q factors. It is intended for use during mixing and tracking, but it can also be used for simple mastering tasks.

Changes in PQ33 v1.1

  • 2 pass filters with 12dB/oct slope (2nd order) and natural-sounding Q factors (HP & LP).
  • Additional markings around knobs as a rough guidance for those who need it.
  • Removed internal filtration of DC component, since now plugin has dedicated HP filter.

The PQ33 is available to download as a freeware VST effect plug-in for Windows.

    J1000 updates Alpha and Beta equalizer plugins to v3.71

     J1000 has released version 3.71 of Alpha and Beta, two free equalizer effect plug-ins for Windows.

    Changes in Alpha/Beta v3.71

    • Double-click on slider knobs resets their position, instead of clicking on slider grooves.
    • [ALPHA] when monitoring only side channel it is temporarily boosted by 6 dB.
    • [ALPHA] improved loudness contour with gentler highs and slightly more lows resulting in more balanced overall sound.
    • [BETA] improved low and high-shelf frequency response so they match more evenly

    Variety Of Sound announces preFIX, pre-mixing and audio alignment tool

    The upcoming preFIX audio plug-in was originally designed to meet the recording engineers needs and is all about audio alignment tasks: fix all that stuff that can’t be fixed outside the box (anymore) and do that fast and with highest quality right before the mixing starts itself.

    preFIX is a pre-mixing and audio alignment tool which typically takes place upfront the mixing process. It provides a clever tool set to clean-up, fix and align audio tracks (typically taken from recordings) concerning overall frequency correction, phase alignment, spatial stereo field corrections and routing. It contains a complete gate/expander solution with a dedicated and comprehensive sidechain filtering path as well.

    preFIX for Windows (VST) will be available in spring 2011.
