Mike O has released Argotlunar, a real-time granulator effect plug-in for Windows and Linux VST hosts. It’s free and Open Source – the source code is licensed under GNU GPLv2.

A grain is a sho rt sample of an input audio stream. Argotlunar can play up to 20 grains simultaneously, with each grain having unique and adjustably random settings of delay, amplitude, panning, duration, filter, pitch and glissando. The implementation is comparable to the AudioMulch Nebulizer.

Details:

  • Parabolic grain amplitude envelope.
  • 12dB state variable filter (HP/BP/LP/Notch).
  • Program change can be modulated by VST parameter.
  • Feedback is capable of self-oscillation.

Footile is the remix of a VST effect by Novuzeit, Motile. Motile and Footile share the same serial-multi-fx concept and sound architecture but with a different modulation system.

In Footile, the effects parameters can be tweaked on four different “scenes”. Each scene is shown (colour coded) as a corner of an XY pad in the middle of the interface, so moving the cursor will morph each scene into the others.
Furthermore, morphing can be modulated with independent and mixable LFOs, sequencers, envelope followers, randomizers (s/h), operating on X or Y axis or both at host-synchronized rates.

Inspired by a certain quest for failure, Footile can be pretty unsubtle. It will treat signals with the following FX chain: pitch shifter-bitrate crusher-psycho-grains-glitch-metal-filter-control. Every effect can be deactivated and mixed at will.

Footile comes with 32 “unsuccessful” presets.

Footile is free and available for Windows as VST effect plug-ins.

When any material passes through it’s input the constantly running oscillators are modulated via an envelope follower. Unusual oscillators intermodulations and a series of “bend-buttons” offer a cheap and non-always-logic escape from traditional midi-note or pattern based composition. an example could be a drumloop turned into bleeping melodies, electric basslines, trashy drones, 8bit style sweeps and other less-stable oddities, Squosc comes with 33 horrible presets for quick non-sense.

When it’s input is silent, it doubles up as a tone generator.

Well know for the raw sound, squareboxes are usually processed with guitar amplifiers, filters, reverbs or whatever chain of fxs. they come unlabeled pretty often, too. Squosc makes no exception.

Squosc is available to download as a freeware VST effect plug-in for Windows PC.

From subtle ADT effects to completely chaotic granular destruction, and everything in between, Discord3 is a capable and broad-reaching multi-effect plug-in.

The pitch-shifter consists of three separate algorithms: a “vintage” mode (the original Discord algorithm, modeled on the Eventide H910 and H949), a “clean” mode for more modern shifting sounds, and a “granular” mode for experimental effects. Each mode has its strengths, depending on the input material, and Discord3 has a broad palette of capabilities as a result. The P1 and P2 algorithms have full control over the buffer (window) size of the shift effect, for fine tuning the shift to the input signal, or for stranger sound effects. At the extremes of the six-octave shift range, some truly strange aliasing and artifacts can be had with this control.

Now, to be clear, if you’re looking for a nice, clean diatonic pitch shifter for fine surgery and re-pitching the full program, you need to look elsewhere. Discord3 is a tool for sound design, barberpole shifting delays, and special effects; think Eno, Visconti, Bowie, or Dirty Mind-era Prince and you’ll be on the right track.

Price: Discord3 is available to purchase as an effect plug-in for PC and Mac (AU/VST) for $59 USD. An upgrade is available to Discord v1, v1.5, and/or v2 users for $10 USD.

Morfiki has announced the release of grANALiser – a hybrid of granulator and delay capable of complex FSU sounds granaliserand effects as well as chorus, pitch-shifter or ring modulation. It is built around the same morphing engine as Morfiki’s redu(p)cer plug-in.

Features include:

  • Stereo processing (granulator pitch shift, size and rate, delay time with spread parameters).
  • Full featured granulator with pitch shift (±5 octaves, dropdown list with fixed values available), that can be tuned with grain size or synced to tempo.
  • Delay unit with feedback.
  • Adjustable sample&hold LFO (randomizer) for pitch and grain rate/size values.
  • All parameters are controlled by MORFIKI preset system.
  • Moderate CPU usage.
  • Drop-down menus with fixed values for pitch-shifter scale tuning, spread transposition and tempo synchronization when available.

grANALiser is available for Windows as a VST effect plug-in and it is free.

CAUTION: grANALiser contains explicit pixel animation, that should be viewed only by adults. People who find such content inappropriate should not use this software. Viewer discretion is advised during usage.
