Freepacks : What’s on offer here are 30 excellent synth bass sounds that cover a wide range of genres, uses and applications and which Dan has looped and programmed to perfection. Nothing fancy – just 30 solid synth bass sounds that sit nicely in a track.
But they cover the full keyboard range from C1-C7 and are therefore equally as useful as fruity analogue polysynth sounds and lead lines and the raw samples are open to much abuse by the more adventurous amongst you.
And in keeping with the Hollow Sun ethos, all the sounds have been carefully optimised by Dan to have minimum impact on RAM and disk storage and CPU strain making them fast and efficient.
For Kontakt users, there’s a bonus in that there are 90 programs and the programs have themed skins and some custom controls for quick tweaking.
The Bass Station Freepack is available as a free download in Alesis Fusion, Akai S5/6000, Z4/8, MPC4000, MPC5000V2 and Kontakt 3 formats.

Designed by the developers of the Alesis Micron software editor, Minizune is an essential tool for overcoming the challenges of the Miniak’s compact layout. Operating as a standalone PC application or VSTi Plugin, it provides control of the Miniak’s parameters with an attractive and inspiring interface. The MIDI Learn feature enables convenient integration and assignment of external MIDI controllers and the parameters can be automated from a VST Host.
Providing unprecedented control of the Miniak’s rhythm mode, the Groove-Mod standalone application transforms the Miniak into a full featured virtual analog drum machine. Rhythms can be programmed on the step sequencers and then recorded into the Miniak’s sequencer for standalone playback. Mute buttons and virtual sliders are provided for effortless mixing of each drum sequence. In addition to the percussion voices, four reversible modulation sequencers can be programmed for unusual morphing beats.
Above and beyond a conventional software editor, Bïzune’s Miniak Suite adds control features and modulation sources not available on the hardware itself, the first ever Softmod for a musical instrument.
Price: The Minizune Editor and Miniak Groove-Mod are available to purchase for $33 USD individually or $50 USD for both programs.

Taurus Pedals : The Moog Taurus bass pedal synth was a totally unique product (then and now) in that it was a simple bass synth that could be played with the feet.
The samples here come from Taurus Mk I owner and vintage synth aficiando Paul Ward who has carefully sampled his pristine instrument over its entire three octave range with long and sumptuous samples lasting as long as 20 seconds before Hollow Sun’s legendary seamless loops kick in. Some program variations are included but there is nothing to stop these samples forming the basis of many synth bass sounds with some creativity.
This is a woofer wobbling delight for all afficiandos of the lower end and arguably the finest representation of this classic sound.
Taurus Pedals is available for Kontakt, Akai S5/6000 (and Akai Z4/8, MPC4000 and MPC5000V2) and Alesis Fusion, priced at $20 USD.
Hollow Sun has also released the Speak & Spell FreePack, a sample library featuring sounds by Luke Smiles from motion laboratories who has put together a meticulous collection of all the letters, numbers, words and phrases from his own Speak & Spell.

Additions & Fixes:
- Added support for Alesis Micron synthesizer.
- Added new readout option for filter frequency the same as ion display.
- Added “All notes off” button that shuts off all eight voices like double-press of home button on ion.
- Now LFO1, 2 and S/H rate show frequency in hertz instead of percentage.
- Fixed a problem which did not allow automation for filter2 frequency.
- Fixed a bug in ENVs “freerun” and “loop” which caused unwanted loop enabled in empty presets.
- MIDI in switch no longer blocks notes which are coming from the host.
- Preset manager no longer remembers the changes until you save a preset.
- Faster startup.
Ion-editor is a MIDI-editor for advanced controlling of the Alesis ION analog modeling hardware synthesizer in your DAW. For rejecting the mouse flicker and reducing zippering noise on MIDI port every knob is specifically programmed to transmit the MIDI messages like a real hardware MIDI controller so Ion-editor knobs don’t generate unwanted data with the same value which is a common issue in some other MIDI-editors. The same pages like the original Ion LCD display make the tweaking easy for parameters that need more descriptive information like filter panning, arpeggio, mod matrix and tracking generator.
